Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
All controls manufactured by SEL are fitted with integral filters and conform to the requirements of the EEC Directive 89/338/EEC. They are CE marked accordingly.
Testing of units is conducted against the standard for Adjustable Speed Electrical Power Drive Systems EN 61800-3 1997 "unrestricted" (incorporating EN 61800-3 1996) and harmonics EN 6100-3. Designs in existence prior to release of updated legislation are being brought in line.
The CE mark remains valid only when the unit is correctly installed. It is the installers responsibility to ensure that guidelines are followed. It should be remembered that when two or more EMC compliant components are combined into a larger system the resulting system may not be compliant. Emissions from combined components may be additive. It is the EMC conformance of the final system that counts in law.
SEL provide general guidelines for installation in leaflet FL45 and specific guidance in the product instruction leaflet supplied with each product.
